Making an anonymous offer with Selme

When submitting an anonymous offer, your identity remains confidential. Only your Selme username is disclosed to the owner during negotiations. When you confirm your offer, we send an email to the current owner of the domain name as found in public whois records. Receiving an offer through Selme assures owners that your offer is legitimate. Our secure escrow service included in every sale is also reassuring. We include a link to a simple page where the owner can accept your offer, place a counteroffer or reject your offer without the hassle of entering personal information.

If we do not receive a response from the owner within a few days, we send another shorter email with an account rep's direct phone number and email address. If they do not respond within seven days of your offer, then you are no longer bound to your offer and are free to pursue other alternatives. You can submit another higher offer at any time.

What you offer is exactly what you pay for the name. The owner pays a 9% ($50 minimum) sales fee. Our secure escrow service, which protects the buyer and seller, is included at no extra charge.

The minimum offer amount for unsolicited offers is usually not enough to motivate an owner to sell. This price is set by Selme as a minimum to use our service, not by the domain name owner.

If you make an offer close to the market value of the name that you want, you are much more likely to acquire the name. We believe so strongly in this that we automatically assign an account rep to each buyer who makes an offer of at least $2,000. If your offer amount is reasonable for the name that you want, your rep will try to contact the owner by email, phone or mail. If your offer is well below market value, your rep will contact you to suggest improving your offer or choosing an alternative name.
