When an offer for a domain is made and the sale agreed, either
the buyer has to send the payment to the seller and trust the seller to
transfer the domain or the seller has to transfer the domain and trust the
buyer to send the payment.
- unless they use an independent Escrow Service.
Selme's Escrow™ service guarantees the transaction for both parties. The
buyer will receive the domain and the seller will receive the payment. If the
transaction does not complete for any reason, the buyer will receive a full
refund and the seller will keep the domain.
Selme's Escrow™ service is included free of charge for all domains purchased through Selme.
The benefits of the service include:
A secure financial intermediary - to ensure your payment is secure.
Assistance with the technical transfer - to reduce the risk that your domain will be lost through fraud or technical error.
Selme's personal assistance - we keep both buyer and seller informed at each step during the transfer process.
**Note** A buyer has no fees to pay to Selme. The price you agree with the seller is what you pay to us.
The seller pays a percentage of the sale proceeds to us for the sale. (see our Price list).
The Domain Escrow Process:
Payment to Escrow Account
Once a domain offer has been made and accepted, the Buyer must first place the funds in Selme's Escrow account via wire transfer, our recommended method.
Wire transfers are fast and do not require a clearance period which can delay the sale and transfer by several days.
The seller will be authorized (and receive guidance) to transfer the domain as soon as we
receive the payment. It is possible to pay by cheque (check) or money order if a wire transfer is not preferred, but this is a more lengthy process.

Please note that Payments using other methods must clear before we
authorize the transfer of the domain name.
Although we do accept credit cards for other services, we
cannot accept credit cards for domain name purchases. (Credit card payments can
be reversed by the payer long after the exchange has disbursed funds to the
seller. Because our service guarantees payments to sellers, we cannot accept
payments by credit card.)
Domain Technical Transfer
Selme works with both parties and their registrars to quickly and securely transfer the domain. Through our contacts with major registrars (Register.com, NetSol, eNom, GoDaddy, etc.) we can ensure the most efficient transfer possible.
Both buyer and seller can obtain help from our Domain transfer team at escrowservices[at]selme.com.
Payment to Seller
Once we can confirm that the domain transfer is complete (the buyer is the owner of the domain name - confirmed by WHOIS), we immediately remit the net proceeds from the sale to the domain seller. With the conclusion of this step, the transaction is complete.
